Biosafety Cabinet Incident Management

On May 30 of 2019, the World Health Organization (WHO) published a video series focused on standard biosafety practices laboratories throughout the globe should be practicing. The video below offers a starting point for Lab Managers, Principal Investigators, and Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Professionals to develop their facilities Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) in the event of a spill, loss of power, or broken glass within the Biosafety Cabinet (BSC).

In the event of an emergency or cabinet malfunction, operators must be prepared to quickly react in a safe and secure manner. This video highlights the importance of a facility’s Standard Operating Procedures and spill control. It also provides guidance on a loss of cabinet power or any other emergencies.
